THE BLACK BLUES BROTHERS
by Alexander Sunny
COMING TO NORTH AMERICA FOR THE 2024-2025 SEASON!
Don’t miss the show that has thrilled the world!
With more than 800 performances and 500,000 spectators in over 20 countries to date, The Black Blues Brothers has established itself as a must-see international show, celebrating music, culture and acrobatic excellence. A blend of contemporary circus and musical comedy, The Black Blues Brothers is an engaging and dynamic show, suitable for audiences of all ages and nationalities, enhancing the physical virtuosity typical of Kenyan performers by combining it with an appealing repertoire of American music and eternal cinematic imagery.
In an elegant Cotton Club-style lounge bar, a cleaner is chasing his dream of becoming one of the Blues Brothers, when two characters, dressed in the iconic suits of John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd, show up offering him a chance to make his dreams come true. Following the whims of an extravagant vintage radio playing classic rhythm n' blues music, the barman and the whole staff transform into acrobatic performers. The stage brims with flawless bodies flying through the air performing impressive stunts: every object around them becomes a tool for breath-taking acrobatics and the constant involvement of the audience. The Black Blues Brothers are an astounding acrobatic group that reforms every night on stage, giving life to a party full of dazzling moments set to the sweeping sounds of the cult movie’s soundtrack, from human pyramids to limbo with fire, hilarious dance challenges and much more.
The Black Blues Brothers carry the rhythm and energy of their homeland, Kenya, in their hearts. They come from Nairobi where they were involved in Sarakasi, a social circus trust that works in challenging situations in East Africa. They have discovered that acrobatics is a powerful means of emancipation and bonding, and now they pass this on to the audience both in their shows and in the practical acrobatic workshops organized by Open Circus, a project for generational change and audience development, as well as in the circus lessons they hold wherever they take their show.
Their tremendous success has earned the acrobats an invitation to the world's leading circus event, the Monte Carlo International Circus Festival, where they received two special prizes. Audience and hosts of numerous TV programs, such as the French Le plus grand cabaret du monde and Tú Sí Que Vales Italia were left speechless by their performance. Among the hundreds of thousands of people who enjoyed the show there are some special spectators such as Pope Francis, Prince Albert and Princess Stéphanie of Monaco and the British Royal Family, for whom they performed during the historic Royal Variety Performance. The Black Blues Brothers were introduced by King Charles III, who praised the tremendous talent of the artists. They have showcased three times to great acclaim at the legendary Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where they were chosen as the best physical theatre show overall by Theatre Weekly magazine.
Now, for a limited time only, the Black Blues Brothers are coming to America – do not miss the opportunity to host these supremely talented performers in your market!
